Good Friday everyone. We are set to kick off the high school football season in Kentucky this evening and we will be watching for some thunderstorm action. This looks to be a sign of things to come as we slip into a pattern ripe for rounds of showers and thunderstorms.
The overall weather pattern of the next week will feature the heat across the plains states with a nice dip in the jet stream across the eastern part of the country. This will put us in a region where disturbances will be working in from the northwest touching of rounds of thunderstorms. The various computer models have been all over this for a while and it makes sense, given the overall pattern.
The GFS rainfall forecast through this time next week shows this northwest to southeast storm setup…
Any particular round of storms over the next week can produce some severe weather with torrential rains. It is not going to storm all the time and there will be some days when you have nothing where you live.
Temps during this time will start out very warm and humid over the weekend before cooling down some later Monday into Tuesday and Wednesday.
Something else to watch for late next week into next weekend will be the threat for a tropical storm or hurricane from the Gulf to the southeast coast. The medium range forecast models have been going crazy with a system during this time.
Let’s get you caught up with tracking any storm action of today and the latest High School Football Forecast…

That complex off to the west looks pretty intense. I hope it misses Bourbon County! We got slammed last night around 11:15. The wind was very strong and I heard hail pounding on the metal roof. The rain gauge showed half an inch fell and there are branches down so I am off to look for more. (we have 25 acres)
Send those tropical systems to Texas. My relatives are so depressed.
Collins kicks of their second season tonight against Meade County. Go Titans!
The Titans played well but they lost 33-25. The weather for tonight was great!
