Good Thursday to one and all. We are inching closer and closer to the weekend and summer is making a mini comeback across the state as temps and humidity levels increase. The upcoming weekend is a like a holiday for high school football fans across the state as we kick off a brand new season.
Let’s start things off with a look at the early call on how the weather looks for our first Friday Night Lights…
It’s hard to come up with a one size fits all forecast for the entire state, so I will try to break it down in greater detail tomorrow.
Now that we have that out of the way… let’s talk about the weather in general.
– Today will feature a weak front slipping into the region. This should touch off some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be on the warm side with mid and upper 80s with a local 90 in the west.
– A couple of disturbances will work in from the northwest Friday into Saturday. This will keep a few storms roaming about the region into Friday with highs back into the 80s.
– The models are hinting at a hefty thunderstorm complex rolling in from the northwest Friday night into early Saturday and this is something for us to keep an eye on. Let’s hope this holds off until after football action.
– Our weekend still looks to feature some scattered showers and storms.
– The deep trough the models were showing 24 hours ago isn’t showing up as pronounced as of now. On and off showers and storms may end up stealing the early week show as we sit between the hot air to the west and the real cool shot to our northeast.
– The models have also been consistently showing a significant tropical system impacting Florida or the southeast coast by the end of next week into the following weekend. Let’s see if they know something or are just consistently wrong. ![]()

BAD storm just hit my southeastern part of Bourbon County. Very strong winds and loud thunder. My cats were yowling in terror. They never do that. T.G. just announced the warning.
