Good Sunday to one and all. We have a quick hitting blast of winter weather blowing across the state today. This is bringing a period of light to moderate snow to parts of the area with snow showers for everyone.
The snows will be concentrated on the first part of the day with the best chance for accumulations across the central and western parts of the state. There could be a corridor of a couple of inches for some areas, but much of this region should see an inch or less. That goes for eastern Kentucky, too.
Temps drop into the 20s from west to east early today and could cause slick spots to develop on area roads. Winds will also be gusty and that will make it feel like it’s in the teens.
I will have an update on the arctic front and ensuing winter pattern later today. For now, I have you all set to do some tracking…

Iits 12:30 am central time snowing hard here in western ,ky Union Co. Ground is cover.
Temperature contrast:
Nashville TN is a relatively warm 48 degrees
But just up the road, Clarksville TN is 34 and light snow.
Snowing heavily and accumulating on sidewalks, roads in Owensboro, KY. Roads are starting to deteriorate.
Can’t believe no one won the powerball. It will be crazy Wednesday.
By 4:30, snow was now the dominant precipitation at my house in Valley Station. Snowing moderately and 32 degrees.
This looks to a quick hitting event. I’m wondering if an inch will fall here.
Reports out of Paducah NWS where many locations saw 2 – 2.5″.
I am going to stay up with this snow band because I want to capture every flake I can and squeeze out the most accumulation possible before it either melts or blows away.
At 515 approaching 1 inch in Sellersburg, Indiana. 9 miles north of Louisville, in Clark County.. Looking at radar trends, we might be able to squeeze another half to one inch of the white stuff before it pushes east.. BTW, nice call Mr. Bailey!!!
Quick update from my house….27 degrees, pavement on my residential street is wet to now partially snow-covered in places. Nice burst of moderate to heavy snow, more of a showery type of snow instead of the big flakes, but should add to the 0.3″ so far.
Where are you located?
I have about .4 of an inch in Cloverleaf.
Same here too. I rounded up to 0.5″ but was closer to 0.4″ for my total from this morning.
From the cameras it looks like Paducah won the snow race! BG got a light dusting…that is it!
Seems to have played out as forecast as far as where most would be, but just less overall than expected perhaps.
Wind is the main player anyway, so hopefully keeps road mainly dry this week.
What I’m seeing here in Eastern KY, is Jack. And I mean Squat, and not Frost
On radar last night, it looked like the northern (not forecast!) and western parts of the state were going to power us to a snowfall victory here in CKY, but then they took it away.
I guess you could say the result of the storm was…
absolutely “Burfict”.
Precipitation seems to be out of for most of use before the cold set in. Just like old times 🙂 😉
Are showers supposed to increase today? Pike county is currently 44 degrees as of 9 a.m. We’ve had little precip but nasty winds.
Light coating of snow in Anderson County this morning. I’m more excited about Tuesday’s system after Chris mentioned the possibility of Thundersnow! Maybe a few school delays and cancellations Tues AM if it comes in early enough??
Got out for a run through the the woods this morning! Super pretty! The temperature change from yesterday morning is amazing!!!!!!!!
Rodger got 2-3″ in his backyard near Western KY. It was a rare overachiever! Excited about the upcoming pattern!
Moisture gone before cold air gets into south east ky. Almost always the case with events like this
Looks like 2-3 inches in Owensboro. Parrish is clear but side roads are coated with a layer of ice and topped with snow. Very cold. The kids keep saying it’s still snowing due to the wind. Looks beautiful!
The donut hole triumphs again in Huntington WV. Not a flake yet, just a lot of wind as of 11am. The snow band moved to the NW into Ohio.
Is the arctic cold wimping out for midweek? I heard mid 40’s for lake Cumberland area.
Got 2-3 inches here in sturgis, ky landscape is beautiful!! Looking forward the next round Tuesday.
Nws louisville, jackson. And TWC dont see much snowfall for central and se ky. Alond and north of i64 has chance for accumulation.
Least roads wont be bad weds on way home
Yea there were saying not much of snow chances yesterday untell they Chang it about 3 clock yesterday afternoon.. So anything can happen Chris.
Temps dropped very fast and roads iced over quick. Still iced over in LouMetro.
5 minutes of flakes blew through Huntington WV around noon on their way toward accumulating in Nicholas County WV. LOL
Very cold here in greenup with flurries
19 degrees in Frankfort, maybe 1/2 inch of snow, first on the ground this season.
Does anyone know what the models are showing for eastern ky on Tuesday?
I’m thinking the storm Tuesday isn’t looking so good now since he didn’t mention it in last night post & didn’t make a midday up date
