Good Wednesday everyone and welcome to a taste of September.  This is the pattern all us heat heaters have been wishing for and it is coming at a great time. School is starting back for the kiddos and footballs will soon be flying across the state. You have got to love this time of year!

Today will be one heck of a nice weather day across our region. Skies should be partly sunny with a nice breeze blowing. Temps will range from near 80 in the north to the low 80s elsewhere.

Current Temps

Some clouds will begin to increase from west to east later today as a wave or low pressure works into the Tennessee Valley. This will cause an expansive area of rain and thunderstorms to develop across Arkansas and southern Missouri. This round of rain will spread eastward tonight into early Thursday and bring a good shot of drops across the southern and western parts of the state. It will be interesting to see just how far north the rains can get.

Temps for Thursday are likely to be even cooler than today because of the increase in cloud cover. Highs will range from the upper 70s to low 80s.

Friday will see thermometers rebound into the low and mid 80s ahead of a vigorous cold front that arrives on the scene for Saturday. This front will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region and may also bring a round of severe weather.  As the front sweeps in… low pressure will deepen in the mid atlantic states and slowly ride up the east coast into Monday. This allows for even cooler air than what we have this week to sweep in here.

As I have been saying… this pattern looks nothing like August…

Sunday will see showers hanging tough for many areas. The combination of shower and a stiff breeze will give the air a cool feel. Temps in the low and mid 70s for highs are very possible! Better weather moves in for Monday as temps remain quite pleasant with upper 70s to around 80 for highs.

Looking farther down the road… the pattern looks to hold right on through the end of August. The heat ridge hangs out from Texas and west as frequent cold fronts move through the eastern half of the country.

Have a great Wednesday and take care.
