Good evening, gang. Rain and snow continues to fall across the southern half of the state as low pressure zips across Tennessee. Parts of western Kentucky have picked up a couple of inches and areas of the south can see a local 1″-2″. Roads can slicken up as the flakes fly.
Much better weather is on the way later this week into the weekend. Enjoy it, because winter comes back quickly next week. The jet stream is forecast to take a deep dip across the eastern part of the country and could spawn another storm system. The European Model late Monday-Wednesday…
That model forecasts a lot of cold air coming in behind that storm system. Check out the temperature departures…
The new GFS has a similar winter storm developing in the east early next week…
The European Ensembles are in the “winter comes back strong” camp. The average snowfall numbers (WeatherBell) for the next few weeks…
That’s a healthy signal from an Ensembles package.
Here are your evening snow and rain trackers…
Enjoy the evening and take care.
Keep up e good work you’re my hero

Wow! It is snowing in Casey County. Gag! You guys rock!
Snow is coming down in Clay County! Big flakes!!
Should we expect to see any snow in Nicholasville or south Lexington tonight?
It seems like CB pointed out a couple of years ago that the cold up north had to move out eventually. It was a time when Canada was all blue on the map late into the winter season. Hopefully this is the same scenario and we can get most of it out of here when it’s supposed to leave. Anyone with any knowledge of this correct me if I’m wrong.
Northwest Kentucky (Henderson area) had moderate snow most of the day after the Paducah NWS had predicted it all going to rain by mid-morning. Most of the snow melted on impact with temps near 32 degrees, but it was another busted forecast for the “warm wish casting crew” at the Paducah NWS. This is Rodger in Dodger!
