Good afternoon, everyone. Showers and thunderstorms continue to wind down across the region as cooler air pushes into the region. From here, it’s time to focus on a major Ohio Valley Winter storm for the middle of the week.
This is a storm that is likely to be a monster of a system that deepens right on top of Kentucky. That setup likely means a very wild Wednesday and Thursday. Heavy rain, thunder, VERY high winds, crashing temps and snow will all be likely during this time.
Here’s our storm…
The NAM by late Wednesday afternoon shows the heavy rain and heavy snow meeting up across the region…
This is a bomb of a storm that will be a MASSIVE wind maker across most of the eastern part of the country…
Wow!
After that pulls away later in the week, an arctic front arrives over the weekend. That could have a band of snow with it and would bring even colder air into town. At this point, there’s usually a storm system trying to sneak underneath that type of system. That is showing up in about a week from now…
Sigh… Winter just won’t go away.
I will have another update this evening. Take care.
Wow, what a pattern! A very wild setup ahead it looks like.
Thanks for keeping us updated on the latest trends as we finish out February and head into early March.
Just curious, CB, you see any possible snow days for us teachers in the next 1-2 weeks??
Bring it on! I want to see some snow just one more time; then bring on spring!!!!! Thanks Chris Baily for all you do!
A Wild severe season on the way, I believe.
Not buying how far west the storm is. Nothing like that all winter. I think the models will correct east in the coming days.
How much snow is eastern Ky looking at for the Wednesday/Thursday storm?
Thanks Chris. I really appreciate you taking time out of your own weekend to keep us updated on the weather. Looks like a wild weather week shaping up once again. Glad we have you to keep us informed and prepared! Have a great afternoon all.
If it will get Spring weather here quicker….I say bring on the best Winter has to offer!
This could be a historic storm for somebody. Question is “who’s the somebody”? Rodger in Dodger!
I see mostly GREEN in this Winter storm. ..looks like Chicago, way up north, maybe Indianapolis. .get some BLUE…to me looks like cky will get wrap around 1/2 in snow.
Models will move some more. Stay tuned. Rodger in Dodger
3 days out if they move it Mostly will not be east
I bought my “ice melt” for the drive way day before yesterday….. It may be that I will need it sooner rather then later! Thanks for the update CB.
More flooding issues on the way?
I don’t see this storm turning out to be much; however the one at the end of the month could develop into something interesting…
the dreaded storm a week from now lol
Stronger storms pull north. This could end being a huge storm with lots of wrap around potential for some. Hope the cold air gets wrapped up sooner than later on this one.
12 z run of gfs had alot of southern potential… Eye candy that’ll be gone on the 18z..
These last two weather days are making it very difficult to muster up the excitement for another snow. I may have to jump the bandwagon and join the Spring team. If I am correct some of the most epic snows for CKY have come later in the season, even in to March so perhaps I should stay on board a bit longer. If all else fails it will be fun to watch!
Sounds interesting Chris, probably a major severe threat to the south of KY, stay safe folks
and thanks Chris for your early heads up!
Thank u Chris for the weather update! I’m getting pretty confident about this storm turning into more of a soaker, although, the track could take a big change between now and then and take this thing up into the East Coast, then more of a snow maker.
May sound crazy, but I’m already keeping my eye on the 2nd storm system coming into the pike after this week. Still a snow lover and hoping we’ll get a pretty decent snowfall rates before the seasons over, then I’ll jump into a spring lover! #CBFan! #BringOntheSnow!
