Good Monday, everyone. We are in a full blown Spring Fever ALERT mode this week. Temperatures more typical of late April and an increasing threat for some showers and thunderstorms dominate the pattern ahead. If you’re anything like you’re friendly weaherdude, ya gotta be loving this!
Temps today hit the 60s across the entire region with a mix of sun and clouds. Readings for Tuesday and Wednesday have a chance to soar well into the 70s. The NAM numbers are likely undercooked…

The longer that corridor of heavy rain producing showers and storms takes to reach us, the warmer things will be. Any areas getting in on full sunshine have an outside shot of reaching 80 degrees by the middle of the week. Again, you will have to have a spotless sky to do it, but it’s a possibility. That axis of showers and thunderstorms slowly works eastward during the second half of the week and into the weekend. This is the time period we will really have to be on guard for the potential for heavy rainfall and strong storms.
This milder than normal pattern carries us into next week. That’s when another thunderstorm maker develops and drifts our way.

LOL, I hope the lack of comments is because everyone is outside and not because it’s not going to snow. I love winter weather as much as anyone just not in March, I’m definitely suffering from Spring Fever. Come on warm weather!
I have seen several daffodils and even the first Japanese plum tree beginning to bloom in Leslie Co. as I was making my way home from work. While the daffodils and crocus are using in bloom by early March, it is definitely a little early this year to see the first tree in bloom, but it is not as early as the ridiculously warm winter/spring of 2012 when the daffodils began to bloom in January and the trees in February. All in all, I am excited about the warm March that we are going to have; however, I hope we don’t have a tragic end to an early growing season later on at the end of this month or April:(
