Good evening, everyone. We are looking at a taste of winter weather moving our way for the coming weekend. This has the potential to bring some rain and snow to our part of the world.
The models are starting this out Friday night into Saturday morning. The NAM during that time…
The NAM then tries to turn that up the coast with some light snow around Saturday night…
The snow map from that run…
That only goes through Saturday night.
The earlier run of the NAM has a snow map that looked like this…
The new GFS snow map goes through Sunday night and looks like this…
The setup on the European Model has a definite winter look…
This is a system to keep a close eye on. It wouldn’t take much correction to get this to have a greater impact on our weather.
The good news is, it’s not hanging around very long. We turn warm by the middle of next week.
Enjoy the evening and take care.
I am too concerned about a true winter threat, especially here in Southern KY; however, the freeze potential is an issue. Yes, we are about 2 to 3 weeks away before the NWS usually issues frost/freeze warnings, but most of the fruit trees are already flowering in full bloom or near hear in Southern KY. I highly doubt we will get a freeze warning issued, but I am concerned that we will sustain some damage. Thankfully, we don’t have all the trees and shrubs fully out yet like we did in 2007, but we are still a few weeks away from the first of April which could end up as bad as 2007 with the warm up yet again next week….
I am “not” too concerned in the first sentence. Dang, I always type faster than my brain processes!!!
As long as my 4×4 is running Im not worried..besides winter is over and Spring is practically here.. Can’t cure my spring fever!
