Good Saturday, folks. Easter weekend is off and running on a very nice weather note out there today. Milder air is pushing in and that continues into our Easter Sunday. Much bigger changes are on the way next week as a major blast of cold looks to take control into early April.
Temps today will hit the mid and upper 60s in most areas under partly sunny skies. Easter Sunday will see readings hitting the low 70s before showers and storms move in later in the afternoon and evening. Here’s the Hi-Res NAM…
Some of those storms could be strong with an outside chance at some severe storms. That will be something to watch out for.
Cooler air moves in for Monday, but that doesn’t last long. Temps surge again by Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of a strong storm arriving on Thursday. This one has a the look of a troublemaker…
Some big thunderstorms will be possible Thursday into early Friday. That looks to be the catalyst to unleash the big blast of cold we’ve been talking about for early April. This is a wicked look for cold…
The numbers coming from the models would be historic…
I don’t know if we get that cold, but multiple hard freezes are a good bet. This could get ugly!
Make it a great Saturday and take care.
Ugly, but no big deal. Cold loses before long.
Big deal because of all the plants that have come out so early. Several hard freezes could be disasterous.
Yes, cold does lose before long that’s obvious. Unfortunately doubters need to realize that the weather sometimes doesn’t give a rats you know what about what month it is. Cold is coming and its rolling to you like a freight train rather you like it or not. Very well could rival the cold we had in early spring 2007. That raised all sorts of havoc on the early growing season.
You and Faye act like I am oblivious and doubtful, and could not be further from the truth if you tried.
Hmmmmm…… I don’t know as I said before this cold snap that’s going to take place could be a real Big Deal could revival 2007. That cold snap cost agriculture around 100 million. Hopefully this cold snap won’t be nearly as bad but the warning shot has sounded.
I agree and am concerned about potential losses, but also believe we would recover.
Agreed. Agricultural will recover but it’s still can be super costly and devastating in the short term if such a cold snap does actually occur.
2007 was bad enough and we ended up with a very dry summer as well.

Hamlin, you NEED this hoodie, if that isn’t actually you in the first place.
Thanks Chris. That map does look ugly, but we have to get through that to get the warm weather to get here. By the way, have I missed Chris’ thoughts on the spring/ summer months? Near normal, above or below? Anyone? Have a great Easter Saturday everyone and remember why we celebrate.
That really stinks.. All the trees, shrubs, etc. that have busted out will be finished.
Noooooo! My fruit trees have been doing so well.
Is there any way possible to protect fruit trees really well from the extreme cold? Our fruit trees are doing so good and I absolutely hate to see the cold weather coming in. I wish this weather was normal…as of now day’s, I no longer know what normal is.
Is there any snow forecast along with the bitterly cold temperatures?
where is the sunday post?
Everything ok, Chris? No Sunday post. Hopefully you are just taking a break to celebrate the day!
