Good Thursday, everyone. The overall weather pattern taking shape across our region looks pretty mild, and it’s looking increasingly dry. This dry setup isn’t a bad thing for those of us yearning to get outside, but it could be setting us up for a hot summer. Hint Hint.
Let’s start with today and roll forward. A big storm system across the southeast has a ton of moisture with it, but most of it stays away. There is the chance for a shower or two across the west and south…
Highs today should range from 65 to 70 in most areas.
Friday’s weather looks good, though I will be watching the southeast for a stray shower or thunderstorm. High temps will be 70ish with a mix of sun and clouds.
This weekend will feature temps into the 70s with partly sunny skies. This warm weather comes at the expense of folks across the south. Look at the below normal temps there…
Temps early next week can reach 80 degrees.
The system coming for early next week looks to be falling apart, but may knock temps down some…
A warmer look follows that up…
In the midst of that frigid stretch last week, I said on WKYT-TV that I wouldn’t be surprised to see 85 before the month was over. The pattern for the week after next can deliver something like that.
Enjoy the day and take care.
85? BRING IT! 🙂
He meant 85 degrees, not mph.
The two predictions I’ve seen this morning are CB’s about a hot summer and the “cheapest gas prices in 12 years on the way this summer”. Being that one of the few problems I haven’t had is fetal alcohol syndrome, I’m going with CB as the sure thing of the two.
Btw, met CB yesterday at Kroger (muwahaha) and he’s a cool cat like you’d expect.
You never fail to amaze me, buddy. :p
If this pattern continues through the end of the month we’ll be talking drought for southeast KY. We didn’t get any of the heavy rains the west and north part of the state got the last couple of months.. It always falls apart before it gets into the mountains.
“Im lovin it”
Get ready this summer for the complaining of no rain or rain going all around us. When you see the patterns where the rain stays west of here or in the deep south, it’s dry here. I’m not surprised, considering we’ve been over watered the past few years. I could be wrong, but I sense it will be drought this summer. I prefer wet years. I hate hot dry weather.
The complaining happens every year to at least some degree, even last year. And look 2 posts above, it’s already started.
It’s not complaining; it’s the truth. I live in Harlan County, and we haven’t received much rain lately. I apologize if this comment sounds mean, but to be honest, yours sounds a little holier-than-thou / accusatory. This is a BIG reason why I rarely bother with the comments section on this blog anymore… I love Chris’ forecasts, but this part of the site isn’t good for my emotional / mental health.
If this comment section is a problem for anyone, their issues are way, way bigger than a blog.
Louisville has only 2 days of above normal temperatures this month, if you combine the high and low then average them out. I’m ready for something different.
No Not 80’s we are in brood V cicada area! Keep it cool dry!
This seems a bit premature. We are a bit behind on rain for the year, but to already be in a drought status seems a bit odd.
