Good Wednesday everyone. Hot temps are surging back into the state for a few days before showers and thunderstorms flare back up for the coming weekend. This is becoming a tired story as it continues the theme of the summer.

Temps head back above 90 degrees today for the entire region. The west will see the highest temps with mid 90s a good bet today and Thursday. Everywhere else should be 90-95. We do not have as much humidity right now as we have with the past few temp surges, so we won’t be seeing the crazy high heat index values.

The threat for showers and storms will increase Friday and continue into the coming weekend. These storms can pulse up to severe levels from time to time and will be capable of putting down a ton of rain for some areas. This setup will also knock our temps down several degrees from the next few days. Sound familiar?

Changes do appear to be brewing for the first week or two of August as a trough tries to become established across the eastern part of the country.

Speaking of brewing…something down in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico is trying to crank up. This has a shot at becoming a depression or storm over the next few days as it heads toward Texas. This would be a big time event for the lone star state as they need some rain in the worst way.

Here is a look at the sat shot of this system…

It is that time of the year as the tropics come to life.
