Good Wednesday everyone. Hot temps are surging back into the state for a few days before showers and thunderstorms flare back up for the coming weekend. This is becoming a tired story as it continues the theme of the summer.
Temps head back above 90 degrees today for the entire region. The west will see the highest temps with mid 90s a good bet today and Thursday. Everywhere else should be 90-95. We do not have as much humidity right now as we have with the past few temp surges, so we won’t be seeing the crazy high heat index values.
The threat for showers and storms will increase Friday and continue into the coming weekend. These storms can pulse up to severe levels from time to time and will be capable of putting down a ton of rain for some areas. This setup will also knock our temps down several degrees from the next few days. Sound familiar?
Changes do appear to be brewing for the first week or two of August as a trough tries to become established across the eastern part of the country.
Speaking of brewing…something down in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico is trying to crank up. This has a shot at becoming a depression or storm over the next few days as it heads toward Texas. This would be a big time event for the lone star state as they need some rain in the worst way.
Here is a look at the sat shot of this system…

It is that time of the year as the tropics come to life.
Back here on the ranch… it’s all about the hot temps and your daily hot weather tracking tools courtesy of the fine folks at Kentucky Mesonet…

Have a great Wednesday and take care.
My relatives in Texas are begging for that tropical system to head their way. Huge trees are dying, roads are buckling and the ground is cracking. It doesn’t help that the temps are around 100 every day. That is why I moved!!
taking the kids to a reds game tonight and staying on your side of the river. hanging around thursday, anyone got any suggestion for some family fun in the area?
Reading the blog I suddenly feel like Bill Murray and the movie Groundhogs day!!! Same ole, same ole….. Yada…Yada…Yada.. Oh well it is summertime..

winter weather lovers!!!! you gotta see this forecast
Thanks Chris….since you are on vacation this week, and the weather is a re-run, why don’t you put the blog on auto pilot? 😉 just a thought….thanks you for doing what you do!
I really hope that that tropical storm does develop and move into Texas. Those folds are really hurting down there. As long as they get some good rains, and not so hard it runs off.
I like that forcast a lot. In the comments he says that he thinks we will see this heat last until the end of September though. Sounds a lot like last year… Which I guess was expected since I heard that drought and hot years happen in pairs with the second not as bad. This year hasn’t been as bad and it is just recently gotten hot and droughty.

Have you ever been to Newport on the Levy? Check it out. I don’t know how much time you have, but they have several options- aquarium, gameworks, movie theater, and several places to eat.
I started a weather chat room and I also provide a map with the radar and storm chasers. It has been a great summer for storm chasing. Ever want to have a weather chat……come see my at http://weatherfun.chatango.com/ Lokking forward seeing this room grow.
good evening from the town of wayne, wva. it is 6:30pm with a mainly sunny sky with a temp right around the 90 degree mark with a heat index of 96 with a dew point of 70 degrees. all in all not a bad summer day, and while it was hot it was not real hot and the humidity was definitely lower today making it more tolerable to be out doors today. hope chris is enjoying his much needed and well deserved vacation and when he does come back i hope the batteries have been recharged and he can start giving us a few snacks about the upcoming winter season. thanks to all and may god keep blessing each and every one of you and to rolo…..i am still praying for you, brother.
