Good evening everyone. Light snow will continue to break out across much of central and eastern Kentucky this afternoon and evening. This snow is developing along a weak clipper diving in from the northwest. I feel comfortable with the areas I highlighted with my last update. I might move that best chance line up to include Interstate 64 across eastern Ky.
A general 1″-2″ will be likely for many areas of central and eastern parts of the state… especially south of Interstate 64.
I have live cams, radars and current condition maps available for your tracking needs. Those are located on the top of the page. Your reports this evening will play a vital role in tracking this light snow system. Give us frequent updates from where you live and make sure to give us your location.
Follow my twitter feed for rapid fire updates from me. Have a great evening and take care.

When’s the next snow chance after this clipper?
December 2012
A lot of this is not reaching the ground now. Known as virga.
From the look of the upstream radar we gonna get it later on! Go Big Blue!
The weather channel has predicted 1to3 inches for louisville area, when was the last time they called for more snow than Chris B. ?????
The NAM, GFS, and RUC models all show a different set up with clipper. Now casting shows cent ky along and south of I64 for the bulk of the snow. Metro. Lou. dusting at best. Lex. over WV boarder should get the high end of the 1-2. Even looks to be moving further north once it crosses over 65.
Yeal, Brian Goode at Wave 3 just wrote:It was interesting to see how the NAM/GFS both increased the threat of this last night and this morning…and now suddenly are easing back some. Clippers are annoying. 🙂
At this point in the game, I would not focus on the model data. Its better to just use the radar trends for the short term forecasting.
MJ….I agree, but the RUC is a nine our model and Is good to use in these situations. It was dead on the other day, but a little off today.
I don’t see any snow to talk about until at least next weekend if even that. We might be waiting until the end of the month. Couple rain makers will be the only precip.
Test
Louisville will be on the outside looking in. A half inch at best. Lexington looks to be in better shape maybe they will pick up a couple inches.
Thanks CB for the midday update.. UK win, and snow in the forecast what a perfect saturday to spend at home with the family !!!
Lot’s of verga on radar, where the upper levels moist up first will be the snow areas, this will be another hit & miss snow, some folks 64 south could get 2plus if the dry upper air will get saturated in time??????
Chris, weather cams are a no show today ??
Yeah. I mean it doesn’t have a lot of moisture with it anyway, so if verga zaps out what little there is anyway, how can there be any to being with?
cams working fine for me https://kyweathercenter.com/?page_id=417
see the link at the top of the page
Moderate snowfall in Elizabethtown with BIG flakes! 🙂
Yep, snow is falling in E-town and Brandenburg. 1/10 of an inch so far.
Hey Jeanette! Point it toward Lexington and send it this way 🙂
I believe its coming your way 🙂
Thanks Chris. the sky looks like it culd open up and snow at any time here in Somerset. Temp is holding at freezing. Just waitin for the white stuff to start falling.
You know it’s been a bust of a winter when everyone’s all excited about a possible incher. Frankly, at this point, I’d be happy to see the ENTIRE ground covered in white. If an inch’ll do it, then so be it!
30 degrees in Valley Station south-southwest of Louisville Int’l. Most of the snow that is falling is melting on subdivision roads even. Some is sticking on my driveway and patio though. Still not measurable.
No snow what-so-ever in the GTOWN area. Looks to be all south of the Watterson…..Just my luck….
GO CARDS!!!!
Congrats Cats…
starting to snow in wayne co 🙂
looks like most of precip is gonna be north of hal rogers instead of along it…just by watching radar…
just watching radar returns areas along and DUE east of BOwling green looks to be to far south…:( sad for my backyard..IF it continues this way…
getting snow here Timothy
Beautiful fine snow falling now in Mercer County by the river. Come on winter…let’s at least get an inch out of this!
Now snowing wet heavy flakes, and sticking quickly.
A little dry slot is right above my house where I can see a bit of blue sky even… then west of that dark gray clouds a comin’ my way lol. Guess its not finished. 🙂
Flurries in London. I’m sure this is a lovely snow 2,000 feet up!
Snowing here in Mccreary off and on.
flurries here in barbourville now

It’s been snowing crazy in Bardstown for about an hour now. A little over an inch now on my back deck/yard, streets are becoming snow-covered!
And yes-I am very excited about it! 🙂
Finally snowing in London. Quickly increasing in intensity and flake size. Bring it on! This might be it!
Clipper doesn’t look as good now. Next two weeks look really mild and very bad for snow-lovers
Oh let’s not be so negative 🙂 There’s always those random analog years that we can use as exceptions to bring hope, right?
I love snow and wish I could say otherwise, but it seems as though threes nothing to watch for awhile. If there woulda been something, chris would have at least hinted at it 😉
Rolo not being negative, actually BAILEY has nailed this.
if u go over last 2 days BAILEY wasnt impressed at all, u look at his post overnite/today he never said much at all, then NWS issuied WWA and he updated and still wasnt impressed.
that said radar blowing up right now.
LIGHT snow in gunchester, will get SLICK after DARK.
Latest measurement here in the heart of Bardstown…3″! 🙂
wow…thats impressive !!!
It looks like you are going to win the lottery. Go cash in your free ticket.lol
Disappointed, I was coming down tonight to sip some Bourbon. I cannot risk the consequences now because of the snowfall.
moderate snow now falling in Barbourville !!! big ole flakes…hope it lasts for a while, im right on the southern edge of this stuff….
temp. spiked up to 37 back down to 35 with moderate snow and a sugar coating so far in the past 10 min…
lloks as though my early guess of ohio river and points south and the greatest accum. i-64 points south look to be good based on current observations commin from some of the comments. totals may be over the projected total of 2 tops in a few localized areas but i think that will be the exception rather than the rule. we shall see. oh, by the way, we need to watch the time frame of the last week of jan. for some big time winter time action in both the snow dept. and the siberian air dept. no model support for this right now but just remember what i said. last week of jan.
Zip here in Morgan County….34 deg.
Just started snowing in Clay County in the Laurel Creek area.
Flurries in Morgan….a few….temp@35
WINNER ! WINNER !! CHICKEN DINNER !!! ( CAM SHOT ) GOES TO DOWNTOWN HARRODSBURG…WOW !!!
Moderate snow been coming down here in west Mercer for a good hour now. Measured a half inch on the back steps and it’s still coming down at a decent rate. Much more snow today than the Thurs. system. Was not expecting this but I’m lovin’ it! And it’s Sat. so I get to be home and enjoy it!
Light snow is starting to fall in Shelbyville.
Snowing here in Winchester 🙂
BIG HUGE flakes in ETown!! Snowing hard! woohoo!
Still going! We are nicely covered now, I’d say just under an inch so far, in far north ETown.
1.3 inches in Meade County (just SE of Brandenburg). Got a snow report of 2 inches in Radcliff (Hardin Co.).
Been snowing for a while in Rockcastle, so far a nice coating of probably a inch, so things are looking nice.
Richmond has received over an inch of snow out of this so far. This is the best setup for snow I’ve seen here all winter. Big, heavy flakes, and coming down fast! Love it!
What about Tuesday? Tell us more about that system.
I had one heck of a verga storm today. If what was on radar had actually fallen, I would’ve had a nice little accumulation. Oh well..maybe next time. To those who are getting snow, enjoy! 🙂
Went to eat in Richmond at about 4:00 and looked out a little while later and the cars were covered. Roads toward Irvine mostly covered. This one sure did hit quickly. Chris is right on, again!!!
Just starting to snow a good rate in Southern Pike County.
appears to be done here in Corbin. 🙁
