Good Sunday to one and all. We are gearing up for a heat wave to settle in from the plains states all the way to the east coast this week. We will be right in the middle of it all as our temps get set to soar for the middle and end of the week. There could be a guest trying to crash the heat wave party… thunderstorms.

The daily threat for showers and thunderstorms for next week is looking better and better and this will have an impact on temps. To what extent that impact is remains to be seen and will vary from day to day and place to place.

The GFS is rather bullish on the threat for shower and storms. Take a look at the rainfall forecast from Tuesday through Friday…

As far as the temps go… this is going to be one oppressive week ahead of us. The humidity levels will be off the charts as our temps climb into the 90s. Add the two together and you will get feel like temps of 100 degrees or much higher.

Western Kentucky is likely to see the hottest temps and the highest heat index values. Readings in this area can approach levels from early last week. Central and eastern parts of the state will see the best shot of showers and storms going up leading to greater variability with temps. Either way… the heat will impact everyone!

In the short term… scattered showers and storms will be around today into Monday. Any one storm can become strong and put down a ton of rain in a very short amount of time. Temps will be impacted by the storms verses sun battle with areas getting mainly sun heading toward 90.
