Good Saturday everyone and welcome to the weekend. We have a tropical feel to the air across the bluegrass state this weekend and this will continue to crank out some scattered storms. The main event of the forecast continues to be the increasing possibility of an out and out heat wave for next week.

The signs have been showing up for a bit now and this bad boy has the classic look of something that can become memorable for much of the country. Temps for the middle and end of next week can reach the highest mark of the summer. The humidity levels may rival those of earlier this week and that may rival or make for even higher heat index values than what we just had.

The GFS has a big time warm bias going on this summer and I have yet to use the actual numbers from it… until now. I think the high temps below have a chance to verify…

This can get NASTY for millions of Americans… consider yourself warned.

In the short term… temps today and Sunday will be all about who gets clouds and scattered storms. Areas that get under some boomers will see temps struggle to get to 80. For those who get more sunshine… highs can hit the mid and upper 80s with a 90 possible.

Those showers and storms that go up will be scattered in nature, but will pack a quick hitting punch. Heavy rains can cause some local high water issues and that is something we will be watching for.

The threat for some afternoon and evening storms should last into Monday and Tuesday before the heat begins to bully the overall pattern.

We have you set up to track today’s weather…

Have a great Saturday and take care.
