Good Saturday everyone and welcome to the weekend. We have a tropical feel to the air across the bluegrass state this weekend and this will continue to crank out some scattered storms. The main event of the forecast continues to be the increasing possibility of an out and out heat wave for next week.
The signs have been showing up for a bit now and this bad boy has the classic look of something that can become memorable for much of the country. Temps for the middle and end of next week can reach the highest mark of the summer. The humidity levels may rival those of earlier this week and that may rival or make for even higher heat index values than what we just had.
The GFS has a big time warm bias going on this summer and I have yet to use the actual numbers from it… until now. I think the high temps below have a chance to verify…
This can get NASTY for millions of Americans… consider yourself warned. ![]()
In the short term… temps today and Sunday will be all about who gets clouds and scattered storms. Areas that get under some boomers will see temps struggle to get to 80. For those who get more sunshine… highs can hit the mid and upper 80s with a 90 possible.
Those showers and storms that go up will be scattered in nature, but will pack a quick hitting punch. Heavy rains can cause some local high water issues and that is something we will be watching for.
The threat for some afternoon and evening storms should last into Monday and Tuesday before the heat begins to bully the overall pattern.
We have you set up to track today’s weather…

Have a great Saturday and take care.

Could a new dust bowl occur due to how dry it is from AZ all the way into the plains and south? I know we keep getting that dirty rain and it sucks, but a full-out dust bowl would be horrible.

Thank goodness for this cooler than normal summer we are having.
I am officially ready for winter. Now.
I agree 110%
Some people are just natural born complainers and would complain about a blemish in a gold bar handed to them.
Didn’t hear anybody complain, just looking forward to winter. Most people around here like the snow, including myself. So see what you can do Mother Nature.
I would not say most people around here like the snow. Because everytime I put snow down around here people complain about how much or how little or how cold it is or not cold enough. If its not the snow its self, then you are complaining about how other people like or dislike snow. Can’t you people just appreciate the season for what it is and what I decide to bless you with in that season? Reguardless of preferance each season lasts approxamately 3 months. Sometimes I cause one season to overlap into another. Sometimes I throw a monkey wrench into the mix to spice things up. Maybe I feel like making it snow in May or 78 degrees in December.
If only winter could start in August!!!
Im with Emerson on this. I love snow. And I personally wouldn’t mind having spring and winter all year long. But im not making a complaint by saying that.
Have you ever been on this board in the winter? Nobody complained about the weather, just said we are looking forward to snow, so throw your monkey wrench and let it snow.
I love fall and winter and always look forward to it. Never get enough snow in my part of the state.
Tempting mother nature is never a good thing to do because I could care less what you want versus what I feel like doing. I just might make the Snow Dome stronger than ever before and give you severe weather in the First week of the new year.. Just CHILL ALREADY( Like my seasonal humor “CHILL”)
