Good Thursday everyone and welcome to a day where you can actually step outside and take a deep breath without smothering. The extreme heat and humidity of this week is taking a little trip to the south and west leaving us with a fresher brand of air.

The muggy air won’t stay away for very long as it returns for the upcoming weekend. It should bring more in the way of scattered thunderstorms that carry us into next week. More on that in a moment.

Temps today will be fairly normal for this time of year with highs topping out in the low and mid 80s for many. The west will be borderline hot again with readings near 90.

Current Temps

With the front stalling out just to our south… we need to watch our southern and southeastern counties as a few late day showers and storms may flare up. If they do, you can find them here…

A little plume of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will be aimed at us from Friday into the coming weekend. This should allow for some shower and thunderstorm action cranking up. You can see that here on the NAM Rainfall Forecast for Friday…

That trend for scattered showers and storms to fire up in the afternoon and evening hours should be with us into the coming weekend. As a matter of fact… the moisture feed from the Gulf may hang around for a while as shown on the GFS rain forecast for the next few weeks…

The hot air is going to continue to make runs at us next week and will likely build back in for a few days at some point. One thing is for sure… this is one heck of a muggy pattern we are in and that is likely to continue for a while.

As always… I will have updates as needed. Have a great Thursday and take care.
