Good Wednesday everyone. Let me start out with a big thanks for all the temp and severe storm reports from the past few days. This has been a wild few days of weather and you guys are the driving force behind what we do here.

Mother nature is about to freshen things up a bit over the next few days as we kick the sultry air out of here and replace it with some pleasant stuff. It all begins today with a cold front crossing the region. This front will bring more in the way of scattered showers and thunderstorms with the highest concentration across the south. Temps will likely stay in the mid and upper 80s for many areas as the humidity levels start to fall.

Make no mistake about it… it is still going to be very muggy today… just not as bad.

Track the temps and rains here…

Current Temps

The cooler air will really kick in tonight as temps take a nice tumble. Readings should dip into the middle and upper 50s for much of central and eastern Kentucky. You can see that well here on the GFS for Thursday morning…

Highs Thursday will top out into the low and mid 80s for central and eastern parts of the state as the far west flirts with 90 again.

Friday should be another day of temps generally in the 80s as the humidity begins to increase. There should be a nice little moisture supply setting up from the Gulf of Mexico into our part of the world from Friday into the weekend. This should allow for scattered showers and storms to go up each afternoon and evening.

That same moisture train looks to be around into the next few weeks, so rounds of showers and storms will be a good bet. Some of these will likely be big time soakers just like the ones we had the past few days.

What about the heat?

The hot air is going to head back to our west for several days before making another run at us at some point next week. The core of the heat is going to continue to be located across the plains and may even expand more to the north of us. This shows up well on the European Ensembles 850mb temp anomalies…

High humidity levels… the heat making a few runs at us and thunderstorms should be the rule over the next few weeks. Stop me if you’ve heard that one before.

I will update things as needed so check back. Have a great Wednesday and take care.
