Good late Monday afternoon. On a day dominated by incredible heat index values… we are watching the threat for severe storms into parts of northeastern Kentucky. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is now out for several counties until 10pm.

Damaging winds are the main threat with this line that will also produce torrential rains. This is the same complex of storms that caused all the issues to the Chicago area earlier today.

Looks like the cooler than normal July is not going to happen. Heat index in Frankfort 112! Ouch!!!
I know Todd. I think the dew point is pushing 80 here in Lex. I’m not sure the last time I’ve seen an 80 dew point here.
Quarter sized hail mixed in a heavy downpour in Quincy, KY. Wind is powerful.
The dew point in Shelbyville is up to 81! The heat index is 116! I can’t ever remember the dew point being in the 80’s.
Getting dark in Johnson County and the clouds seem to be moving fast and swirling somewhat.
Heat index in Lex at 8:00 is 109. Just finished grilling and it about killed me, just sitting there.

Boy I sure hope those storms have enough JUICE to make it back into knox co. Its so HOT I could have swore I saw the mayor frying eggs on the court house side walk this morning. !! LOL
