Good Saturday to one and all. We got a heck of a drink of water from the skies over the past few days and got it out of our system just in time for the weekend. Now we await the hot temps as they make another run at us. You know the drill by now… a hot day or two then a cold front takes care of the rest. ![]()
Before we look ahead… let’s take a look back at the month of June. The numbers are in from NOAA and here is what the month looked like…
Warmer and wetter than normal for our region was pretty standard for June. The wet part is nothing new to our part of the world. Check out this blurb from NOAA…
Record precipitation caused by a persistent storm track across the northern U.S. drove the wettest April-June period in the High Plains and the Ohio Valley area. Within the Ohio Valley area, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan had their wettest April-June on record.
If we take a look at June temps across the globe… this is what we find…
As far as the weather goes today… temps will warm into the middle and upper 80s for many with 90 in the west. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny and the weather looks great for folks going to the Sprint Cup race at the Kentucky Speedway.
Current Temps
Sunday will see temps soar toward 90 for many with low 90s in the west. An increase in humidity levels will make it feel even hotter. The same forecast goes for Monday and both days may feature an isolated thunderstorm.
A cold front will make a run at us by Tuesday and Wednesday and this will give us a much better shot at showers and thunderstorms. Temps will also come back down as the heat gets smacked back to our west and southwest.
This looks to be the start of a stormy period for the middle and end of the month. ( Not that we haven’t had our share of storms lately.
)
Have a great Saturday and take care.
