Good Tuesday and welcome to a day that will feel more like Monday to many people. We are coming off a big three day Independence Day weekend. The 5th of July is often a letdown anyway as we try to come to grips that the second half of summer is now upon us. In terms of the weather… the start of the second half of summer will have a familiar theme.. warm and humid with scattered storms.

It is basically a what you see and feel is what you get kind of forecast for the next week or so. Let’s break it down…

– Today will see temps in the mid to upper 80s for highs. Humidity levels will be up and we can squeeze out a scattered shower or thunderstorm.

– Scattered storms will be possible each and every day this week with highs running in the 80s.

– This should be a fairly humid week as the real heat continues to stay to our west and southwest.

– A weak front will drop in by the end of the week and bring an increased threat for showers and storms. This may also give us a little drop in temps. This happens as some of the models blow up a little storm near the Carolina coastline…

NAM Friday Morning

That is something to watch for as it might be something of tropical origins and may also bring some MUCH needed rains to those areas. It may also have some impact on our overall weather headed into the upcoming weekend.

What about the temps? The heat tries and tries to get in here… but it simply can’t do it and the GFS Ensembles suggest it will make another attempt by late weekend into early next week…

That still looks awfully wimpy as far as real hot weather goes.

Back to today… track the warm temps and isolated storms here…

Have a great Monday… make that Tuesday and take care.
