Good Monday everyone and welcome to a much cooler and wetter week across the state. This will be a welcome change from the heat and humidity and dry conditions of the past few weeks. Mother nature owes us some different weather to mix things up a bit.

Today will find a fairly awesome weather day across our part of the world. Many areas will see temps staying in the 70s for highs with a few low 80s showing up in the far south and west.

Current Temps

Skies will be partly sunny as we should have an almost September like feel to the air today.

Tuesday will see more of the same in terms of temps.. but we will notice a few more clouds moving in from the northwest and these may bring some showers and storms into parts of the region before the day is over.

This will mark the beginning of a fairly wet and storm pattern that should carry us through the rest of the week. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be moving in from the northwest during this time and these should put down some good rain amounts for most.

Here is a sample of the GFS…

There is the threat for some strong or severe storms during this time and that is something we will have to watch for. Heavy rains will be a good bet and could also cause some local issues.

For much of the next few weeks… we will be sandwiched between a massive heat ridge across the south and southern plains states and some much cooler air in the midwest and northeast. These two will battle it out and the heat will make a run or two at us. The battle will also lead to our region being in the prime area for more rounds of showers and thunderstorms that roll in from the northwest. The GFS rainfall forecast for the next few weeks shows this pattern very well…

I will have updates as needed so check back. Have a great Monday and take care.
