Good Sunday everyone. A fresher brand of air will set up shop around here for a few days as get a major break from all the heat and humidity of recent weeks. This will also set the stage for a wetter pattern for the weeks ahead and the action gets started during the upcoming week.

Temps will be the big story out there today as a cold front continues to head southward across the Tennessee Valley. Highs will come down into the upper 70s and lower 80s for much of the region. Humidity levels will come down as well. We will still see some scattered showers and thunderstorms early today across our southern counties and you can find those here…

Monday will see readings again in the mid and upper 70s in the north and east with low 80s in the far south and west.

The week ahead is going to see a nice battle taking place between some much cooler air from the plains into the northeast and the continued heat wave in the southern plains into the deep south. That will place us in between the two and the battle zone will crank out rounds of showers and thunderstorms from Tuesday on. Here is how this shapes up…

Northwest to southeast moving clusters of showers and storms will become common and some of these are likely to be strong or severe. This pattern should is also one that can bring a swath of heavy rains to much of our region.

Here is how the GFS looks for Tuesday through Thursday…

This is the wetter pattern we have been pointing toward for a while now and it looks to be kicking in right on time.

Have a great Sunday and take care.
