Good Thursday afternoon everyone. The threat for severe thunderstorms is on the increase this afternoon and evening across much of the state with the best chance being across the north. A new SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been issued for far northeastern Kentucky until 8pm
Damaging winds and large hail are the star players for the storms today. These boomers will also put down a ton of rain in a short amount of time and this could lead to local flash flood issues.
Here is the latest watch outline and the current warnings…

Updates will come your way as needed and I will have rapid fire updates via twitter. Take care.

Looking at the radar, seems like watch should be for SE Ky instead of NE Ky.
I thought the rain was gonna keep to the north? What’s up with SE KY? Wish that would move north to my neck of the woods. Need rain bad!
Finally got about a 10 minute shower on my yard here in knox co. Not near enough, but I’ll take what I can possibly get!!! A lot of Thunder in the area as well
Funny how the storms popping in western NC don’t look as intense as the ones in east TN or south KY, yet the ones in NC are severe T storm warned.
are these storms going to make it to NE ky. Looks like they are going to stay south of the Ashland/Flatwoods area!
Major thunder, lightening, and hail in Johnson County….its nasty out there.
Had VERY beneficial rains here in my area of knox co. Today just over 1″
don’t know why southeast ky was not mentioned on here for bad storms. we had them with our weather radio going off to warn us.
but did it have to blow my corn over and wash my beans out ? Thankful for the but not thankful for the damage to the garden
