Good Thursday gang. The heat and humidity will be back with us today… but with a catch. Showers and thunderstorms will become more common as we go through the afternoon into this evening and a few could be on the strong or severe side. We will get some tracking tools for you and also take a look at some big changes to the pattern in the coming days and weeks.
Highs today will spike toward the low 90s before any shower or thunderstorm blows into town. The stronger storms will likely contain damaging winds and large hail and that is what we will be watching for. Heavy rains and frequent lightning will also accompany any boomers that go up.

Severe Weather Threat

Radars
The threat for showers and thunderstorms will continue into Friday and through the upcoming weekend. We will likely see some of the same threats as we have out there today.
There is a nice little front that should show up around here later this weekend and will really knock our temps down. You can see what i’m talking about here…

GFS Ensembles Temp Departure
That is likely to set the stage for the return of a more normal temperature pattern for the remainder of the month. This pattern should also grow wet and stormy for much of the Ohio Valley and the rainfall forecasts from the GFS continue to show this over the next few weeks…
I will have updates as needed so be sure to check back. Have a great Thursday and take care.

I am looking forward to the pattern change. It’s just around the corner, just like our filly’s racing debut. Our trainer says she’s ten days away. He’s been saying that for MONTHS! Chris, I know you are the real deal. The pattern change WILL happen. 🙂
I’m so ready for some cooler weather as well. And my back yard hasn’t seen any rainfall in nearly 2 weeks!! We’ve went from soggy rice fields to the sahara desert!
Here’s what I say about summer…. we throw it in the trash and keep spring and winter. That way we’re either getting rain or snow!! 🙂 But never the big one…..:(
That is a well used line that trainers use, LOL! What track will she run at? Who’s her sire? She a homebred?
Sorry Chris, I know this is a weather site, but I’m in the horse biz. Anybody got a pick for the Belmont? Where’s Rolo?
WendyT-Mercer County, she is a homebred by Unbridled Energy but our friend was responsible for that and we are partners on the racing career. (not that there is one yet!) We started this a year ago when the filly was 2 and she was oh-so close to racing then too! I’ll believe it when I see it and I will post something when she actually races. My Belmont tri is Brilliant Speed, Animal Kingdom, Master of Hounds. Back to weather…my relatives in Texas are in dire need of rain. Any chances of a tropical system heading toward Texas?
What’s her name or dam? I want to add her to my equineline portfolio so I can get emailed if she does get entered. I’ll place a bet on her, got to for all the weather peeps 🙂
hey guys and gals, stopping in with BELMONT day picks for ya.
race 8 ARCH TRAVELER race 10 WINDWARD ISLAND
and in belmont ANIMAL KINGDOM by 7 or more, already got 3-1 with future bet and I plan on buying a new truck after race.
will use RULER ON ICE and MASTER OF HOUNDS in exactas.
got thunder rolling, storm popping quick.
MichaelT – the filly’s name is GIMMESHOKTREATMENT. That is very kind of you to express interest in her but please be warned that her talent level is a complete mystery to me. She works over a slow track so her works aren’t super fast, or even slightly fast. She probably does not want to be a sprinter but her first race may be a six furlong msw. Feel free to inquire about what the trainer thinks if and when you see her name in the entries!
Funny that the forecasts all say the storms will be to the north but right now they are all to the south. Is this the beginning of the pattern shift??
