Good Thursday gang. The heat and humidity will be back with us today… but with a catch. Showers and thunderstorms will become more common as we go through the afternoon into this evening and a few could be on the strong or severe side. We will get some tracking tools for you and also take a look at some big changes to the pattern in the coming days and weeks.

Highs today will spike toward the low 90s before any shower or thunderstorm blows into town. The stronger storms will likely contain damaging winds and large hail and that is what we will be watching for. Heavy rains and frequent lightning will also accompany any boomers that go up.

The threat for showers and thunderstorms will continue into Friday and through the upcoming weekend. We will likely see some of the same threats as we have out there today.

There is a nice little front that should show up around here later this weekend and will really knock our temps down. You can see what i’m talking about here…

GFS Ensembles Temp Departure

That is likely to set the stage for the return of a more normal temperature pattern for the remainder of the month. This pattern should also grow wet and stormy for much of the Ohio Valley and the rainfall forecasts from the GFS continue to show this over the next few weeks…

I will have updates as needed so be sure to check back. Have a great Thursday and take care.
