Good Sunday afternoon everyone. As expected… things are getting active out there as strong and severe thunderstorms are firing up across the state. Damaging winds and large hail are the main players with the storms this afternoon.

Some winds within the WATCH box may approach 75 mph! That can seriously damage barns, cause roof/chimney damage, and blow down several trees along with power poles/lines.
Looks like the line approaching Green and Adair counties has an outflow boundary ahead of the main cells?
Any idea when this will be effecting the Lexington area?
round 2 look to be futher north as far as the worst there west of london, mt vernon area look out. strongest winds ive seen in at least 15 years here were i live in gunchester can believe i doint have alot more tree down.
Major damage in Joplin, Missouri, deaths already being reported. Huge tornado, Weather Channel there reporting and trying to help people at the same time.
One of the chief meteorologists at one of the Springfield, MO TV stations used to work in Lexington, I believe, although not sure who, exactly. Bet they’re having a rough evening. Prayers go out to all those folks in SW Missouri.

That would be Kevin Lighty who use to work with Chris at WKYT. Absolutely unreal damage in Joplin. This is a year for severe weather I’m never going to forget.
How come the radar is showing nothing over central KY? A t-storm just went through Danville.
