Severe Weather Possible Tuesday

Good Monday to one and all. The first week of April is off and running, and it’s more of the same from Mother Nature. Our super-duper active weather pattern continues, with everything from severe thunderstorms to snowflakes in the forecast this week. Basically, it’s the same setup we had for much of March.

Temps out there today will recover from the chilly start, with most areas hitting the 50s this afternoon. Any leftover shower will slide away early, with just a slight shower chance into the afternoon…

Thermometers may rise later tonight, with a warm front lifting northward through the region. That may spawn some decent showers and storms as much milder air pushes in for Tuesday. Temps will be deep into the 70s on a strong southwest wind kicking up ahead of a cold front. As that front moves in, showers and thunderstorms will increase through Tuesday night, with a  squall line of storms likely. Severe storms are also becoming more and more likely in this setup. The Storm Prediction Center has much of the region in the Enhanced Risk…

Damaging winds, some large hail and a few tornadoes are possible with this line.

Here’s how all the above looks on the Hi Res NAM…

Much colder air comes in behind this front for Wednesday, with temps some 30-40 degrees colder. Our northwesterly wind may even produce a few flakes, especially in the eastern mountains.

This cold air then hangs through the rest of the week and into the weekend, with a couple more systems impacting our weather. The first comes Thursday night and early Friday in the form of a cold front. That drops in with some rain and snow possible, then it slows down right on top of us. That’s when low pressure develops and takes aim at our region to begin the weekend.

The end result could be rain and snow…

This is one heck of a week of weather across our part of the world, and given how crazy things have been of late, that’s saying something.

I will update things later today. Make it a good one  and take care.

April 3rd is an uncomfortable day for severe storms, to say the least.
