Good Sunday and Happy Easter to one and all. We are wrapping up our holiday weekend with a weak cold front crossing the state. This bad boy doesn’t have very much left in the tank and will throw some clouds and a few sprinkles our way. This front has a big brother that looks to pack much more of a punch in the form of cold air as we roll into the upcoming week.

Today will see a mix of clouds and sun with just a tiny shot at some sprinkles. Winds will kick up as temps warm into the 60s for highs. Winds will really gust up on Monday ahead of our next front that arrives Monday night. This may bring a couple of showers our way, but the big story will be the shot of cold temps behind it.

Look at the numbers coming from the GFS…

That has a serious BRRRRR factor to it and should bring colder temps than what we just had. This will be the time to really be on guard for a freeze and is something we will be following closely.

Temps will warm quickly by the end of the week and especially into the coming weekend. Highs may reach 80 degrees by this time next weekend into early the following week. This will be ahead of a slow-moving plains storm system that should take its sweet time getting in here.

European Model

The GFS looks similar with the slow movement of this storm…

That setup is also one that should bring a nasty outbreak of severe weather to the plains states and that may move our way into early the following week.

Have a Happy Easter Sunday and take care.
