Good Monday everyone. It’s a windy day taking shape across the bluegrass state and the gusts will be ushering in a much colder air mass that will give us the threat of frost and freezing temps. Green thumbs need to be on alert for the middle of the week as our readings can tank on a couple of mornings.
We have a stout little cold front crossing the state late today and this will cause a few clouds to increase. There is just the smallest threat for a late day or evening shower as this bad boy blows through here. Winds will continue to crank up today with gusts of 35mph or higher possible.
The cold temps will be the big story of the week. The GFS continues to be gung-ho on the Brrrrr factor…
We have a real chance to string together back to back nights in the upper 20s and that would cause some problems for our early plants and vegetation.
The cold air will hang tough through Thursday before moderating by the start of the weekend. There will be a slow-moving storm across the plains states and this will send some very warm air our way. Look how slow the European Model is with the storm…
That could boost our weekend temps close to 80 degrees and the GFS approves of the warm message…
That warm pattern should hang around into early next week and should eventually produce some big thunderstorms around here.
We have a lot of weather to get through between now and then and it’s the cold shot this week taking center stage. Have a great Monday and take care
The big sprawling high centered off the east coast is going to try it’s hardest to keep that nasty severe weather to our west this weekend.. but it’s going to be a close call.
Thanks Chris and WXman!
Gonna hold off planting some things until this coming weekend. Hope it’s not too cold for what’s already there.
