Good Monday everyone and thanks for dropping by the center. We are kicking off Kentucky Derby week on a rather toasty note and temps will likely head toward the hot side of the thermometer before the week is over. This is also a pattern conducive for rounds of thunderstorms and some of those boomers may crank up later today.
We have a washed out front across the Ohio Valley and this will act to help fire up scattered storms today with a better shot coming tonight and Tuesday.
Here’s the latest on today’s threat from the Storm Prediction Center…
Highs today will head into the low and middle 80s across the entire state. Here’s the rest of the week in headlines…
– The storms on Tuesday may be fairly widespread and that may knock a few degrees off from where we are today.
– Wednesday and Thursday have a chance to be hot. These days may see lower storm chances and more sun with highs in the mid and upper 80s with a 90 possible.
– Kentucky Oaks Friday and Kentucky Derby Saturday will both be very warm to hot. Readings will be well into the mid and upper 80s with an outside shot at 90. Both days will feature a few storms floating around the region. This may be one of the warmer derby weekends in a long, long time.
Have a wonderful Monday and take care.
Thanks Chris.
Thanks, Chris. Looking forward to keeping out the warm weather clothes for a while. Have a great Monday!
SPC hinting they may soon issue a watch for western Ky. Mostly a hail and strong damaging wind threat, a rather low tornado threat for now.
Watch just coming out…
How about Corbin area? Do you think there’ll be storms tonight?
WATCH HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO COVER LEXINGTON AND REALLY THE REST OF THE STATE EAST OF LOUISVILLE UNTIL 1AM…
