Good Tuesday everybody. We are coming off a very stormy Monday across the bluegrass state and we will likely fire up a few more rounds of storms today. While the storms are the main show right now… the heat is waiting in the wings and will soon rock the weather party.
A few rounds of showers and storms will be possible today. One or two strong or severe storms can’t be ruled out, but there may end up being more noise than anything. These storms could also put down some locally heavy rain totals into the overnight hours. The models are suggesting some decent totals into early Wednesday…
The rest of the week is straight out of summer. Highs will soar well into the mid and upper 80s and a few spots may touch 90. Check out the numbers from the GFS…
That may put us within reach of some record highs during this time. That same temperature setup should take us into Kentucky Derby Saturday. That would provide us with one of the hottest Derby temps in a long, long time.
The drawback will be the risk of a scattered storm or two through the week and into the upcoming weekend. That action will have to be handled on a day by day basis.
Have a terrific Tuesday and take care.
