Good Thursday everyone and thanks so much for stopping by. It’s a good day to have the rain gear handy as low pressure brings a round of soaking rains to much of the state. This is a fast mover that leaves us with a great looking weekend before our pattern gets it rock and roll on over the next few weeks.

Rain will overspread the state from west to east this morning into the early afternoon hours. Much of central, southern and western parts of the state will get in on some heavy rains and this may put down up to an inch of water. Much lighter rains will be noted in the north and northeastern parts of the state.

Temps today will warm into the low 60s ahead of the rain for the eastern half of the state. The western half will see much cooler air because of the clouds and rain. Let’s track today’s weather before talking about the upcoming pattern.

The low will pull away to our southeast early Friday. This means any early morning shower or clouds will quickly scoot away leaving us with mainly sunny afternoon skies and temps in the mid and upper 50s for many.

Our weekend looks GREAT!! Chilly lows will turn into mild afternoon highs in the 60s under mainly sunny skies.

The weather next week continues to look much more active as we start making the transition from where we are now into an early start to winter. There is likely to be a big fall storm working across the lower plains and into the Ohio Valley for by the middle of the week. This should be a heavy rain and even thunderstorm maker for parts of our region. Several runs of the GFS have been spitting out a ton of rain…



It’s way too early to tell where the axis of heaviest rain will fall, but it is certainly worth watching.

As I said, the GFS has been showing this healthy storm for a while now. It has also been signaling the switch to a much colder pattern for the middle of the month. Occasional runs of the model have been going off the deep end with the amount of cold gripping the country…



That’s what one of the Wednesday runs was showing for November 13th-17th. While that is likely not going to happen as depicted above. The model is good at sending out signals on where the pattern may eventually go. I think a pattern likes this does set up later in November.
