Good evening gang. I put our a November forecast earlier today and it called for a big switch toward winter during the second half of the month. Today’s GFS must be a blog reader as it went straight toward that idea.
While it won’t work out that way… it is definitely showing where I think this pattern can go. The timing of the switch is in question… but the week leading up to Thanksgiving may be in the time frame.
There are many indicators showing of a major blast of winter for much of the country coming early this year. It should be fun to watch this play out. ![]()
Take care.

Just seen a HUGE Black Wooly worm in the yard..Look like it had two coats of fur on it…Wooly says be prepared for a cold and wet winter ahead especially in Eastern Ky..Looking for at least two major snow events with at least 10 inches or more in late Dec. and mid Jan…Also a suprise ice storm early Jan. for lexington or louisville.. There you go the wool has spoken…
dayton has to be the most depressing place when it comes to getting sunshine but today was the exception to that rule. it was very nice today after a cool start. that 14th storm i would bet might be the lakes cutter that brings in the pattern change, just a guess?!
i used to look at those but too me their wooly worms coats are always very dense…lol before a mild winter have you seen thin wooly worms?
7:43pm from the town of wayne, wva just south of huntington, wva. under a clear sky with a temp in the mid 50s. a beautiful fall day out there today with another 1 on tap for wed. looks as though the lawns made need mowing at least 1 more time with the outlook for warmer weather over the next week or so to go along with periodic bouts of rainy weather. do not forget to fall back this weekend by setting the clocks back 1 full hour to gain an extra hour of sleep back. also do not forget to change the batteries in the smoke alarms and any thing else that requires a battery that we do not use every day. thank you for your time and may god bless you and your family.
I have faith in it. GFS has been hitting it’s stride in recent weeks. I’m looking for a good ol’ continental polar discharge to sweep in before Thanksgiving. Hey, if Turkey Day is a white one, that’ll be perfectly fine with me. 🙂
Me too considering I’m going Whitetail hunting with my dad the weekend after Thanksgiving! Could use a good cold front to get them stirring :D.
