Good Tuesday evening everybody. The arctic chill will slowly ease up as we head into Wednesday and this comes before a quick surge of mild temps. This won’t last long as the cold air returns during the weekend and we may see a storm with it.
Last night’s Canadian Model was most bullish on a storm and today, the European Model has taken over.
A cold front drops in on Saturday with cooler temps and some showers. Low pressure developing across Texas should roll across the Tennessee Valley and turn up the east coast. If that happens… rain will develop on Saturday with temps in the 40s. Colder air moves in Saturday night as the low goes by and we see a switch to some snow into early Sunday.
The model also shows another light snow making disturbance dropping in on Monday.
I continue to see very strong support for a deep trough developing across the country for the middle and end of next week. That may come with a storm. You can see this setup on the European Model for next Thursday…
They’re are also increasing signals for a major arctic outbreak for much of the country toward the middle and end of the month.
This is not your December pattern!
Have a great evening and take care.

Great job nailing the forecast Chris. You and Brian Goode of Wave3 in Louisville are my two go to guys when it comes to the weather. Thanks for making the weather so much fun.
Nothing happening on Wednesday night now?
TO heatmiser:
Not a doctor, but I did sleep at a holiday inn express last night.
Just something my dad always said to my mom when I was growing up. I always wore shorts and tshirt even in the winter my mom would always make sure I was over dressed and by the time I came home from playing I was in my shorts and tshirt.
SORRY! I did not mean to P off anyone.
THINK SNOW!!!:)
You made a couple of great choices. 😉
rain showers then SOME snow
light snow
not hearing anything to get excited about:(
Only got a dusting from last round and kids are begging to use new sleds Santa brought!
I agree Kelly!! Chris and Brian Goode at Wave 3 are my go-to-forecasters too!
The ‘Four Riders’ for weather, for me, are Chris, Belski, Harned, Goode. Combined, the weather gets nailed in their cross-hairs every time. Just my thoughts- for entertainment purposes only.I am loving the phrase ‘arctic outbreak’.
Too bad Chris isn’t at Wave, they would be unbeatable.
New SE OH poster here, but I’ve followed Chris’ forecasts for a while now. Site looks great buddy and can’t wait to see the changes! As for the weekend system, I am a bit interested in the setup as there will be an ample supply of cold air to tap into. All that is needed is a bit of an earlier phase and things could get very interesting across the region…
So nothing for SEKY until later this weekend??
My $0.02, which is actually worth $0.01: I’ve met Chris in person and he’s a really good guy. Like, the kind of guy I’d like to play golf with, if I played golf. Just a genuine guy who is passionate about what he does. Brian Goode is a personal friend of mine. We did weather together back in college and he was the one who taught me what I learned in front of the camera. He’s also a great guy. I think Bailey and Goode are two of the most passionate guys about what they do in the entire business around here. Lots of TV mets are presentation only. Few actually know meteorology and CARE about the science of it. That’s why I think you people are making a goode choice by listening to these two guys.
SnowChic: Yeah nothing really to worry about until the Sat/Sun time frame. The setup for that system is a bit tricky and is highly dependent on many factors, including the speed of the phase (if any) and available moisture.
I agree!
I agree. Both are great at their jobs, it shows in the way that they do their jobs that they love what they do. Haven’t met Chris yet, but did meet BG at a safety fair…he is a really sweet, friendly outgoing person. And he was so excited about the upcoming winter weather that I immediately took a liking to him. Both of them are my ‘go to’ guys for the weather. Together they would be phenomenal.
It appears that the Gfs & nam are still not buying into the euro madel.(0z run)
I met B. Goode at the fair out in the crowd away from the booth set up for meeting them. He was not bothered a bit. In fact, we talked about weather for a while. I turn many people to CB & Mr. Goode. Both my favorites too!
I certainly enjoyed my snow day yesterday! Thank’s Chris for the great job on the forecast!
