Good Friday, everyone. We have an honest to goodness cold front with some showers rolling into the region to kick off this weekend. Those have been few and far between for the past month, as we know.
The longer range finds a much more active pattern to close October and kick off the month of November.
Today’s weather is windy and fairly warm. Highs hit 75-80 for most areas with a gusty southwest wind reaching 25mph to 30mph at times.
Clouds will thicken from northwest to southeast with a few showers getting into the state from late afternoon into the evening. These will continue into Saturday morning across the south and southeast before moving away.
This won’t be a lot of rain by any means, but we will take whatever drops we can get.

Chilly winds will be rather brisk on Saturday with temps generally 60-65 for many areas but some of the higher resolution models are a bit cooler than that…
Some clouds will filter through the state Sunday with a typical late October chill in the air. Highs range from the upper 50s to low 60s…
Monday through Wednesday will be another very nice weather period as temps jump right back toward the 70s. Winds will be super gusty from the southwest, ahead of a cold front likely getting in here at some point on Halloween.
The EURO brings this front in here with some spooky showers and then follows it up by another cold front in the first weekend of November…
The Canadian Model is similar…
The GFS is pretty unusable right now. Remember me saying it wasn’t seeing the Halloween system at all? That’s because it was trying to produce a tropical system in the days ahead. It’s no longer doing that so it now sees the Halloween front. Still, the GFS is trying to do the same thing for early November and that’s messing with the model… Again.
Notice that cold air lurking behind that second front on the EURO and Canadian? This is part of a pattern leading to a possible deepening trough in the east. At least, that’s according to EURO Ensembles…

Thanks Chris. Until the overall weather pattern changes, we will have to be content with whatever rainfall we receive. I didn’t expect a very colorful Autumn, but the foliage this year has colored very well in my area. Hopefully, we will receive more widespread rains after the first of the month, and a hard freeze to end the growing season here.
