Good evening, everyone. It’s truly a wild winter storm that’s blasting the bluegrass state as we have thundersnow, thundersleet and thunderfreezing rain. This storm and has much more left in the tank as we head into Monday.
Historic amounts of snow are being recorded in some areas, including our biggest city…
The 9″ of snow so far on the day in Louisville means this is the 3rd snowiest January day on record and the 12th overall snowiest day in Louisville history. #kywx

That’s pretty insane and they have more snow tonight and Monday.
Winter Storm Warnings are out for much of Kentucky through Monday…
The main concern this evening into the wee hours of the morning is the ice storm unfolding across many areas. Significant amounts of freezing rain is taking a tool on powerlines with lots of outages now being reported across the state.
The setup for tomorrow is concerning as a band of moderate to heavy snow sweeps across the state, intensifying across central and eastern Kentucky. This shows up well on the future radar from the Hi Res NAM from 11pm tonight through 7pm Monday…
This can bring another 1″-4″ of snow to much of the state. This doesn’t include the snow that falls overnight in the north and west, but this is only what falls after 7am Monday…
Hi Res NAM
EURO
That’s pretty impressive and there’s a chance they’re underplaying the strength of this upper low.
Whiteout conditions show up with this snow as winds crank behind the departing low and behind the upper low. Check out the hour by hour wind gusts from the Hi Res NAM from 11pm tonight through 7pm Monday…
Bitterly cold temps follow this with the chance to go below zero by Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
That’s followed by another possible winter storm Friday and Saturday…
I’ve got the latest on WKYT News on the CW Lexington at 10pm and on WKYT at 11. The full KWC update comes later tonight. I have your tracking tools including our Kentucky Weather Cams to watch the wild weather across entire region…
Pouring the rain in Corbin, at 31. Hoping my thermometer is either wrong or the temp is expected to climb soon
32 already progress
No snow for wky this was a flop but we’re on the rain train
Russell are you getting ice or sleet I saw where some people were having power outages in that area???
I got about 4 inches of snow but the ice or sleet is hitting my windows now ice is hanging on the power lines.
Hey Crystal
Here in Paducah it started out as fr rain this morning then over to rain….now it’s light snow. We haven’t had any outages but going east from here counties that were in the ice storm warning did. Marion, Ky had some. Crittenden, Webster and Caldwell had a few. The Henderson Ky area probably had some too.
