Good Tuesday, everyone. Snow showers and areas of light snow are rolling across the region over the next few days. These will drop some light accumulations as frigid temp take control. Oh and that Winter Storm THREAT continues for Friday and Saturday.
Today’s snow showers come are fairly light but will spit out enough to cover things up again in some areas. You can track these on your Kentucky Weather radars…
A little disturbance drops in on that northwest flow tonight and early Wednesday. This brings an uptick in light snow and snow showers with the potential for coatings up to 1″ of snow for parts of central and eastern Kentucky.
The NAM fam of future radars shows this well. Here’s the NAM from 7pm this evening through 7pm Wednesday…
The Hi Res NAM shows this well and even shows another quick burst of light snow tomorrow night in the southeast…
Frigid temps are likely through Thursday, especially during the mornings and especially if we can get any overnight clearing. Thursday morning should be the coldest of the bunch with single digits to near 0 IF skies clear…
This sets the stage for the possibility of another winter storm impacting our region Friday into Saturday. Low pressure develops across Texas and lifts to the northeast, throwing moisture northward into Kentucky. This looks like an all snowmaker for our region, but the intensity is in question. Is this a light event or one that produces several inches of snow for the entire area? I can’t tell you that just yet.
The GFS continues to be the most enthusiastic on a winter storm…
The Canadian isn’t too far behind…
The EURO is the weakest and fastest solution with this storm, but it’s done that with a few systems this year only to correct west and stronger as we get closer…
This system should not be as stout as this last system and may wind up being much lighter if the low tracks farther south.
Additional snow chances follow that up as the pattern continues skewed much colder than normal over the next two weeks…
I’ll have your normal updates later today. Have a good one and take care.
