Good Sunday, everyone. A small break in the crazy winter weather is showing up out there today, but we have more in the way of winter weather in the coming days. Arctic fronts will bring bitterly cold temps and even a light snowfall or two over the next few days.

More in the way of melting takes place today as the sun shows back up and temps spike above freezing.

The first arctic front arrives early Monday with a period of light snow that can bring coatings to the area…

The big story will be the crashing temps behind this as readings drop through the 20s Monday afternoon with lows that can reach near zero by Tuesday morning…

Gusty winds will make it feel well below zero…

Another system drops through with widespread light snow Tuesday afternoon and evening. Coatings to 1″ of snow will be a good bet for many from this…

Even colder air crashes in behind this with below zero lows by Wednesday morning…

Wind chills would be colder once again.

The temps will FINALLY bounce back for a day or two late week into the start of the weekend, but that turns around very quickly as we go into another very harsh winter pattern late next weekend through the following week.

I’ve been highlighting the week of the 20th for a while and now we have the CPC joining in on the fun. That’s a lot of real estate with dangerous cold…

They’re also seeing the potential for our arctic boundary to slow down to our east with waves of low pressure going up along it and causing all kinds of winter weather. Look at the expansive region they show for possible heavy snow…

I think the Canadian Model has a pretty good handle on the potential. Watch the first boundary move in by Friday and Saturday with a winter storm possible right behind it…

The GFS is in its usual progressive bias but it has the signal…

The EURO has the signal as well…

The EURO continues to take the temps to the absolute extreme during this time period. The departures from normal are crazy…

Here’s hoping that doesn’t come to pass.

I’ll have your normal updates later today. Enjoy your Sunday and take care.
