Good evening, everyone. It’s been a wicked January with a ton of snow and a ton of bitterly cold temps, but tonight may be the worst of the bunch in terms of temps. Temps may be among the coldest we’ve seen around here in years with wind chills even colder.

A Cold Weather Advisory is out for the entire state and surrounding areas…

There’s a case for that to be upgraded to an Extreme Cold Warning for parts of the region.

Actual temps range from 0 to as low as -15 in the coldest valleys with a deep snowpack. Wind chills can go even lower…

The EURO is seeing the well below zero lows…

It’s also seeing the brutal wind chills…

The Canadian Model is even colder with actual lows…

I think that may be a bit too cold.

The HRRR is seeing the dangerous wind chills with -17 showing up across north central Kentucky by morning…

The extreme cold eases up but we are likely to keep colder than normal temps right on through the weekend, at least.

There’s a light snow maker blowing through here Thursday into early Friday…

The models are slowly trending colder with the setup behind this for the weekend and early next week. A southern storm system can throw winter weather our way Sunday into Monday, especially…

The AI version of the EURO doesn’t show precipitation type, but it does show a healthy surge of moisture with a southern low during this time…

Enjoy the evening and take care.
