Good afternoon, everyone. It’s an absolutely gorgeous weekend that’s wrapping up across the Commonwealth with mild temps and sunny skies. If you’re a fan of spring, the weather over the next week is to your liking. If you’re a fan of winter, you’re going to like what happens after this week.

Our springlike week will even feature the chance for a few strong thunderstorms rolling in late Wednesday and Thursday. This is ahead of a potent storm system rolling through the Ohio Valley and it may have another system right behind it for the weekend.

The EURO even has that system ending as a touch of winter action on Monday. This animation goes from Wednesday morning through Monday morning…

It’s later in that same week and into the following week when we have to watch for multiple winter weather makers to threaten our region. How the models handle these threats will continue to change from run to run.

Here’s the EURO…

The GFS also gives us a good look at these threats…

The GFS Ensembles continue to give us a strong signal for winter weather around here and for much of the region over the next few weeks…

While the details remain to be seen, the potential for another harsh period of winter weather is on the table for the middle of February.

Enjoy the rest of your day and take care.
