Good evening, everyone. It’s a very windy end to February and, as we roll into March, the threat for strong to severe storms continues to show up. This is one to watch for Tuesday and Wednesday as we get the infamous clash of the seasons.

Even as we are 5 days away, the Storm Prediction Center is beginning to highlight the severe storms potential for Tuesday and Tuesday night…

That’s the preliminary look, but that’s a healthy signal from this far away. Watch for the threat area to continue to expand farther north and east in the coming days.

This comes from a potent low pressure wrapping up in the Mississippi Valley then tracking into the Great Lakes. Strong to severe storms and high winds are likely along and ahead of this with a cold air crashing in with snow behind it.

The models are all in pretty good agreement and I don’t expect that to change much. Here’s the GFS…

Look at those peak wind gusts…

The EURO also has a monster storm…

It also has similar wind gusts…

This may bring a significant severe weather outbreak from the Ohio Valley into the deep south. Stay alert in the coming days.

I’ll have additional information on this and the overall pattern with my full update later tonight. Have a great rest of your Friday and take care.
