Good Saturday, everyone. It’s another day of tracking rounds of showers and storms across Kentucky. Some of these storms may be strong or severe and put down enough rains to cause local high water issues.

Here’s a quick breakdown of our first weekend of June:

  • Today starts with some showers and storms that may put down a narrow corridor of very heavy rains.
  • Watch for flash flooding in this narrow corridor.
  • Skies become partly sunny by late morning into the afternoon with just isolated showers and storms.
  • Another round of showers and storms should go up across western Kentucky this afternoon.
  • That rolls eastward, bringing the potential for a few severe storms. The greatest threat is across the south.
  • Locally heavy rains will be possible yet again.
  • Scattered showers and storms linger into tonight and Sunday as a wave of low pressure spins through.
  • Temps on Sunday likely stay in the mid and upper 70s for many.

In terms of today’s severe weather threat, the Storm Prediction Center continues with a Marginal Risk to Slight Risk…

The threat for tornadoes is there, but it’s rather small and centered across the western half of Kentucky…

Pockets of large hail and damaging winds are the greater threats…

There’s an even lower threat for a severe storm on Sunday…

Many of the models show another 1″-3″ of rain through Monday…

Locally higher amounts will show up from thunderstorms, leading to those local high water issues.

Cooler and drier weather blows in by Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.

Additional showers and storms then kick in late next week and likely through the following week.

The latest from the EURO Weeklies continues to give us a wetter than normal look through much of July…

The same run of the EURO Weeklies also keep showing the above normal temps flexing across the western half of the country with normal to slightly below normal temps around here…

I leave you with your complete storm tracking tools of the day…
