Good Saturday everyone. Our weekend is looking great as the active weather pattern takes a break for a few days. Enjoy the break because we are going to see things kick back into high gear next week with the chance for a taste of winter for some.

Our day is starting out with the coldest air of the young fall season. A hard frost and light freeze will be noted this morning as temps drop into the upper 20s and low 30s in several areas. Here is a look at the morning low temps…

The rest of our day will see high temps warming into the upper 50s to near 60 for most areas under partly to mostly sunny skies.

Sunday should see us warm it up a little more with highs from 60-65 with some clouds on the increase during the afternoon hours. These clouds are ahead of a weak front diving into the northern Ohio Valley. This may throw a shower or two our war Sunday night or Monday. Highs Monday should be back in the 60s.

Tuesday looks like the best of the bunch with our highs warming into the 70s as our winds kick up. This is ahead of another MASSIVE weather change that will take our pattern back into a winter look and this one has a chance to actually deliver some early season wintry weather. That doesn’t mean it will… but the pattern certainly suggests the chance is there.

The air moving in for the second half of the week is colder than the air we just had and has a better source region. Look at the amount of cold to our north on the European Model…

A strong cold front will move in late Wednesday with an increase in showers and possible thunderstorms. The front moves in for Thursday with much colder air moving in. A wave of low pressure is likely to work eastward along the front later Thursday and Friday. This may very well have a mixed bag of weather on the northern edge of it and that’s something we need to watch for. There may also be a tropical system in the eastern Gulf that tries to get into the mix.

I would not be surprised to see this turn into another big cutoff low across the Ohio Valley. One that spawns a big storm that brings us a ton of rain that could end with some flakes here or very close by. This setup really has my attention!

While we are talking about a winter pattern. Longtime blog friend and commenter MikeM sent me some awesome pics of a waterspout from his recent trip to the Bahamas. Check out the great shot of the spout and Mikes two kids, Michael and Matthew.

Thanks for the pics, guys!

Have a great Saturday and take care.
