Good evening, everyone. The weekend is wrapping up with better weather pushing into the region. This sets the stage for some pleasant weather in the week ahead, but is Old Man Winter lurking for an early visit in about a week or so from now? Maybe

Showers are slowly spinning to the south of Kentucky today, but a couple of them managed to grow into small hail producing thunderstorms in the south. Here are your Kentucky Weather Radars to track the action out of town…

The week ahead is really nice until we get to Friday when the first in a series of cold fronts arrives. This will be followed by, at least, another system later next weekend into early the following week.

The signal for a cold shot and the first flakes of the season has been there for a bit and the models are seeing this better and better as we get closer.

The Canadian has a good look for a little more than some flakes dropping in from the northwest. This animation starts with our Friday front and goes through early the next week…

Check out the Barney colors showing up behind that…

The EURO isn’t as dramatic as the Canadian, but it has a similar look…

The GFS has had this system with each run over the past few days and still has it…

That will be a hit and run blast of cold and possible flakes as the our back and forth setup likely continues into the week before Thanksgiving. Once into Thanksgiving week, we are likely to hit a setup that leads us into a fast start to winter.

I’ll have an update on that and an interesting look from what’s going on in the Pacific. Enjoy the evening and take care.
