Good evening, everyone. I wanted to drop by for a quick update as the first round of snow showers and flurries move through the region. This will be followed by brutal wind chills and heavier rounds of snow showers and snow squalls on Monday.
Temps continue to get closer to the freezing mark and will drop into the 20s overnight…

This cold plunge is diving all the way into the deep south and may bring record lows in Florida…

The wind chills are straight outta January…

Something interesting today was a small scale low pressure that developed right on top of Lake Michigan. This was forecast by the Hi Res NAM and the radar was actually showing an eye like feature as it dropped to the south…
That small low is associated with the potent upper level system and it’s heading our way. That same small scale low spins across Kentucky Monday and brings a big increase in snow showers and squalls.
You can track that feature with the future radar from the Hi Res NAM that goes through 1pm Monday…
That’s pretty wild to see!
Lots of coatings show up on grassy and elevated surfaces Monday with locally higher amounts, especially in eastern and southeastern Kentucky. With temps at or below freezing, slick spots may briefly develop on area roads, especially bridges and overpasses.
My snowfall map looks good to let ride…
Our Winter Weather Advisory continues into the southeast…
Wind chills are brutal later tonight through Tuesday morning. This animation shows the wind chills Monday Morning through Tuesday morning…
Our weather turns better for the second half of the week, but we are already seeing the models going toward a setup featuring big storm systems rolling across the country…
They weren’t seeing this a few days ago and this is something I said to watch for. We will need to watch for another thunderstorm to snowflake system the following week.
The EURO Weeklies continue to have the look for late this month and December. I’ll get into those with the full update later tonight.
I’ll also have frequent updates on my Meteorologist Chris Bailey Facebook Page
Until then, here are your tracking tools for the day…

Have a great evening and take care.

I haven’t seen anything so far but it’s 37 maybe tomorrow
