Good Monday, everyone. The tropics are pushing to our east and being replaced by another warm setup for much of the week ahead. This warm setup will also bring showers and storms that will be followed by a big blast of fall chill for the upcoming weekend.
The remnants of Isaias blasted through here this weekend, taking a track that across southern and southeastern Kentucky. The center passed directly over the London area Sunday afternoon…
This marks the 52nd time since the late 1800s that a tropical system or remnant low passed directly over Kentucky. This map shows the tracks of the prior storms…
Clouds and lingering light showers slowly fade today across the east while the west sees lots of sun. Temps range from the 70s east to the mid 80s in the west.
Highs reach the 80s for the entire state on Tuesday as a strong southwest wind kicks in. This is ahead of a boundary that slides in from the northwest for Wednesday and Thursday. This front checks up near the Ohio River, allowing for waves of showers and thunderstorms to roll along it…
There’s a low-end risk for a few strong to severe storms, but it may not be enough to get included in the Severe Weather Outlooks from the Storm Prediction Center. Here are those outlooks for Wednesday and Thursday…

Temps remain warm until a potent fall cold front arrives with gusty showers and crashing temps on Friday. The models are a little more progressive with this trough, meaning the flake fantasy from the GFS remains just that with the best chance for early season flaks well to our north and east.
Still, I like what the Canadian is doing in this animation from Friday through Saturday…
The GFS is too progressive with this run and that’s a bias of the model within a 3-5 day window of events…
Watch the GFS trend deeper with that trough in the coming days.
The growing season may very well come to an end this weekend with Sunday morning making a run at freezing or below for the entire region…
As always, I leave you with your daily storm tracking toys…

We really weren’t blasted by Isaias.
