Good Tuesday evening gang. The weather world is slowly coming around to talking more and more about the potential wintry looking pattern for next week. The models are now all in lock step with one another on the setup with a deep trough in the eastern part of the country by the middle of the week.
The GFS was the first to sniff this out several days ago and continues to show the cold solution…
That is a heck of a cold blast and the air on the model is cold enough for some flakes to fly. Here is where that same model run thinks gets in on some snow…
It should be noted the European Model suggests some flakes for this same time period. Again… this is all model speculation at this point. Since August, I have been highlighting the end of October into early November for the chance for some early season fun. This is even sooner than what I was thinking.
Climatology is strongly against snow in October! It has happened several times in the past and a few of these years are showing up on my analog list. In a year of extreme weather… nothing should be discounted and it’s something we will watch for over the next week.
In the short term… we are left tracking some rains across central and eastern Kentucky…
Enjoy your evening and I will have a full update later tonight. Take care.

Wow! Chris! Talk about surprises! This year, they just keep on coming weather wise! Guess we will just have to wait and see. But, it sure is going to be fun!
This makes me so excited!!!!!!!!!!!
i am on the edge of my seat!!! the earliest i remember snow was on Halloween. that was 20ish years ago. THIS would be super early!
The first time I remember it snowing on Halloween was 18 yrs ago. We had been visiting our relatives in TN and had to leave early because of the weather. As we crossed Pine Mtn. we found a salt truck in the ditch. It was one of the prettiest snows that I have ever seen because it was laying on the colored leaves that was still hanging on the trees.
We did have a little bit of snow on the ground 22 years ago the week before Halloween.I remember it well because my sister was born on the 22nd of October 1989
