Good Tuesday evening gang. The weather world is slowly coming around to talking more and more about the potential wintry looking pattern for next week. The models are now all in lock step with one another on the setup with a deep trough in the eastern part of the country by the middle of the week.

The GFS was the first to sniff this out several days ago and continues to show the cold solution…

That is a heck of a cold blast and the air on the model is cold enough for some flakes to fly. Here is where that same model run thinks gets in on some snow…

It should be noted the European Model suggests some flakes for this same time period. Again… this is all model speculation at this point. Since August, I have been highlighting the end of October into early November for the chance for some early season fun. This is even sooner than what I was thinking.

Climatology is strongly against snow in October! It has happened several times in the past and a few of these years are showing up on my analog list. In a year of extreme weather… nothing should be discounted and it’s something we will watch for over the next week.

In the short term… we are left tracking some rains across central and eastern Kentucky…

Enjoy your evening and I will have a full update later tonight. Take care.
