Good Friday to one and all and welcome to the finest weekend of the entire fall. I honestly didn’t plan on that opening line to rhyme… but i’ll take it.
This is one heck of a stretch of warm weather and it will carry us into the first part of next week. That is when the pattern begins to change toward a cooler and wetter one.
Today marks the opening day of the fall meet at Keeneland. I can remember doing many live weather shots for this big day and coats and umbrellas were required for a few. Neither will be needed today or into the weekend…
Highs will range from the upper 70s to low 80s through Sunday under mainly sunny skies. Again… it just doesn’t get much better than this.
Track the temps…
Current Temps

Things begin to change up a bit into the early part of next week. Our temps will begin to come back down toward the mid and upper 70s for Monday as a few clouds start to sneak in. The general pattern will then find a trough digging into the Ohio Valley by the middle of the week. This happens a some kind of tropical or hybrid system forms near Florida and lifts slowly northward.
Exactly how all that plays out is a few days from being known. The models are going to have some swings trying to iron out the interaction between the trough and the possible tropical system. You get the idea the European Model is trying to figure it all out as it has a rather muddled look…
That’s a lot of players on the field for the month of October. The question is… do they all hook up or stay sperate? The answer to that will come in a few days.
Regardless, showers and cooler air will move in for the middle and end of next week. How much rain and how cool remains to be seen.
I will have more updates through the weekend and will throw some more winter talk your way. Have a great Friday and take care.

I moved to near Lake Herrington almost right at the eantrance to The Peninsula Golf Resort. Last week when everyone else was saying they had frost, I did not. My thermo needs its batteries replaced so I don’t know how cold we got, but I know we didn’t even have a light frost.
I have a lot of tropicalsand the hardier ones that can survive here like some of my banana tree’s wouldn’t show damage, but the more cold tender ones would have shown damage. I guess it has to be because I have the lake and the KY River right by and I am between them.
