A Stormy Memorial Day Weekend Ahead

Good Thursday, everyone. Our very active weather pattern shows no signs of slowing down with more showers out there today, and another severe threat this weekend. That’s when rounds of thunderstorms will blow back in here, causing issues for the big Memorial Day weekend.

Let’s start with today’s dose of ugly and roll forward. Highs today will generally be in the 60-65 degree range in central and east, with pocked of upper 50s. These are also the same areas with gusty showers across the region…

Warm and humid air then surge in for Friday with temps closing in on 80. The threat for a few storms will then move in Friday evening, setting the stage for rounds of strong to severe storms Saturday and Sunday…

This is a decent signal showing up for severe weather and flash flooding. Look at the GFS rain forecast for Saturday and Sunday…

There’s the potential for some rough and tumble weather this weekend, so stay alert in the coming days.

Much cooler air then comes in behind all this for the first half of next week. Check out the deep trough in the east…

That trough hangs tough as warm air develops across the deep south. That’s likely to set up a battle zone on top of us, with additional clusters of showers and storms…

Some of the model runs are REALLY putting it down over the next ten days…

There’s no shortage of busy weather in this setup.

Enjoy the day and take care.
