Monday Evening Update

Good evening, everyone. I wanted to drop by for a very quick update on the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend that’s just around the corner. The overall setup has not changed going forward, but the models are trending colder with the late weekend setup.

Before we get to those cold shots, give it up for the cold out there this morning. Lows hit the teens in some areas…

I won’t recap the first front coming Tuesday night, so lets skip ahead to the second one.

This moves in on Saturday with very gusty winds…

That front may also have a small line of showers with it. Northwesterly winds behind this on Sunday may give us a few flakes of snow.

The temps go way below normal…

Wind chills can really tank on occasion…

Enjoy the rest of your evening and take care.

Midday Monday Update

Good afternoon, folks. Not a whole lot of change to update you guys on for the big holiday week and weekend. We continue to track two cold shots our way, with the one coming over the traditional weekend being the stronger of the two.

The first arrives with a cold front Tuesday night. This front tries to touch off a light shower with a wet snowflake in the far north…

Temps take a dive behind the front and are back into the 20s by Wednesday morning. Highs on the busy travel day will be way below normal with upper 30s and low 40s…

Thanksgiving Day is very cold to start with temps deep into the 20s. Afternoon highs reach the 40s with mainly sunny skies.

Black Friday looks windy with upper 20s in the morning and 45-50 in the afternoon. Clouds will increase, ahead of our next cold front that arrives on Saturday. This front will bring a gusty line of rains with it…

Once again, temps tumble behind the front on a strong northwesterly wind. The GFS gets those winds in good shape to deliver some snow showers and flurries from Lake Michigan on Sunday…

That’s a darn cold air mass showing up in the eastern part of the country late this weekend into early next week…

A brief bounce back appears to come after that early next week, before we are likely tracking another powerful storm system impacting the region. The track on that one might be fun to follow.

I will have another update this evening. Enjoy the day and take care.

A Colder Than Normal Thanksgiving Week

Good Monday, everybody. As hard as it is to believe, Thanksgiving week is upon us and the pattern continues to look colder than normal in our part of the world. This cold setup is likely to be accompanied by a dry turkey… Day. The active pattern is calming down for a few days.

We are tracking two cold shots our way in the coming days. One shot arrives for the busy travel day on Wednesday, with another diving in late Saturday and Sunday. We are basically bookending the long holiday period with cold shots.

Temps today start in the 20s and hit the 40s with a mix of sun and clouds. Winds gust up on Tuesday with near normal temps ahead of our cold front. That front may have a light rain or snow shower behind it across northern Kentucky as is passes through…

The busiest travel day of the year looks dry and seasonally cold in our part of the world. Lows are in the 20s with afternoon readings in the upper 30s to low 40s…

Thanksgiving Day will start with temps deep in the 20s and end with 40s for highs. Skies stay partly cloudy.

Black Friday shoppers look to face temps dropping into the upper 20s early in the morning, with near 50 by late afternoon. Winds will gust up, but skies stay dry.

A stronger push of cold air arrives late Saturday into Sunday.

A few weeks ago, I made a post showing how the very cold air in Alaska and western Canada would start to bleed into our region. That’s been the case lately, and looks to continue. Watch the connection keep showing up on the Canadian Ensembles…

That animation goes into the start of December. You do see some breaks between the cold shots, but the connection is pretty cool to see.

I will hook you up with updates later today, so check back. Have a magnificent Monday and take care.
