Wednesday Evening Update

Good evening, folks. A cold front is crossing the region and this is a sign of things to come as we roll forward. A much bigger system impacts the weather here over the weekend, unleashing much colder air behind it.

I don’t have much time, so let’s get after it.

Overall, I have no changes to my ideas with the weekend system. The NAM Fam is still trying to bring a little frozen stuff into the picture late Friday. The Hi Res NAM only goes into Friday evening…

The full blown NAM shows a similar Friday look with the heavy rain coming in behind that on Saturday…

High winds are also possible on Saturday…

The cold takes hold behind this from Sunday through Tuesday and we will actually be talking wind chills!!!

Ok, that’s all ya’ll get right now. 🙂 I’ll have the normal full update later tonight.

Have a good one and take care.

Wednesday Afternoon Talkers

Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a dreary day across the bluegrass state as we look ahead toward a much bigger system for the weekend. That one looks to bring the potential for more high winds, precipitation and a big temp crash as arctic air comes in behind it.

Today’s dreary weather means low clouds and a few showers continuing…

Temps are mild, but those numbers drop tonight as a cold front blows through here. That brings a seasonal brand of chill for Thursday.

Our weekend system is much stronger and brings a smaller version of last weekend. Cold air is in place on Friday as precipitation moves in. There’s the chance for a little frozen precipitation on the leading edge of this before temps climb and it quickly goes over to showers. Showers and a few storms will be with us into Saturday as temps spike, then drop crash behind the front. That could lead to a few flakes…

Winds are going to become an issue again with gusts that may be greater than 50mph at times on Saturday…

Watch how fast the cold air crashes in here and look at how cold Sunday is…

This will set the stage for lows close to 10 by Monday and Tuesday. Wind chills during this time are frigid…

Have a great day and take care.

Changes Finally Showing Up

Good Wednesday, everyone. It’s a bit of a dreary day across the Commonwealth as another system works in here. This is bringing low clouds and a few showers, but the rains aren’t that impressive. Speaking of impressive, we have pretty big temperature flip coming up this weekend and into next week.

Let us begin with today and hit the fast forward button. Fog is a big issue this morning, so take it easy out there. A few showers move in and there’s a rumble of thunder possible in the south and southeast. This won’t be much rain at all, but your regional radar is here to track it…

Seasonal temps move in here for Thursday, but our next system is set to roll through here Friday and Saturday. This is a fairly potent system that may start things out with a touch of frozen precip before going over to rain on Friday. From there, gusty showers and a few storms will be with us into Saturday before temps crash and a few flakes show up Saturday night…

Gusty winds look to be a Saturday player. The GFS has gusts of 50mph…

The air coming in behind this is frigid and sends our highs to below freezing by Sunday. Monday morning gets even colder…

Updates coming your way later today, so check back. Have a good one and take care.
