Heavy Rain and Strong Storms Return

Good Saturday, everyone. As expected, our break in the rain didn’t last long as the drops are back in the bluegrass state. Heavy rain and a few thunderstorms are rumbling across the state today, with some nasty showing up for our Sunday.

Rain and storms overspread the region today as low pressure works right on top of the state. Heavy rain will be possible, with local 1″-2″ amounts showing up through Sunday. There’s also a low-end risk for a few strong storms across the south and southeast.

Here’s the current Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

Wraparound showers are going to hang tough on Sunday across central and eastern Kentucky. This is going to absolutely crush the temps with many areas potentially staying in the 40s. Farther west, clearing skies allow the numbers to reach the 60s…

Monday looks to start with a possible frost and reading in the 30s, but has a strong finish with highs in the 60s and sunny.

Tuesday looks to be very nice with temps spiking into the 70s..

That comes on a strong southwesterly wind flow ahead of another strong storm system. This could bring strong to severe storms in here Tuesday night and Wednesday, with cooler air moving in behind this…

Temps rebound quickly behind that by Friday into next weekend. That’s the beginning of May and the first full week of May is already sending out a signal for some big thunderstorm risks around here.

I leave you with your Saturday rain and storm tracking tools…

Make it a great day and take care.
